Insights and events
Jemma is a strategic and knowledgeable patent litigator, with a focus on coordinating complex, multi-jurisdictional cases. She works collaboratively with clients to develop innovative and creative solutions to challenging intellectual property issues, with a particular focus on telecommunications and life sciences industries.
Jemma advises electronics and telecommunications clients on patent issues concerning standards essential and non-essential technologies. Equally comfortable dealing with technical patent trials and licensing disputes, she regularly works on cases concerning global FRAND issues spanning multiple jurisdictions and has experience of arbitrating FRAND-related disputes as well as litigating.
Early in her career, Jemma was seconded to the High Court, where she acted as a judicial assistant to a Patents Court judge. This experience afforded a unique insight into litigating in the UK courts, and Jemma combines this knowledge with procedural expertise to provide commercially focused litigation advice.
Jemma has represented clients in bringing challenges to the English Court’s jurisdiction to determine global FRAND rates, and recently acted in a trial concerning a novel form of FRAND-related declaratory relief. Jemma also has experience acting for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in patent litigation concerning vaccines and antibody products.
