Tobias Timmerscheidt is dual-qualified as an attorney-at-law and as a German and European patent attorney, and advises clients from Germany and abroad in all matters of patent law. His work is centred on patent infringement and validity proceedings before the Unified Patent Court (UPC), the German national courts, and the European Patent Office. His dual qualification is particularly useful in technically complex proceedings, and his current focus is on the fields of information technology and telecommunications, as well as organic and inorganic chemistry.

Tobias has extensive experience with patents in many technical areas. He has particular expertise in the fields of green chemistry, electrochemistry and chemical energy storage (battery technology, hydrogen, synthetic fuels), chemical engineering, materials science, polymer chemistry, and metallurgy, but also in digital communication, computer networks, and telecommunication standards.

Tobias holds degrees in chemistry, computer science, and law from RWTH Aachen University, ETH Zurich, and the University of Hagen, and has obtained his science doctorate in the field of inorganic chemistry/metallurgy as part of a collaborative research centre on high manganese steels. He trained as a German and European patent attorney at a renowned patent law firm in Cologne, and worked for several years in patent prosecution before joining our patent litigation team. As part of his two-year legal clerkship, he supported our patent law practices in Dusseldorf and London.
