Zachary Suggs is an Associate in our Corporate & Finance Practice Group. Since joining Hogan Lovells in 2020 as a summer associate, Zachary has supported both public and private companies on a variety of domestic and international transactions. He focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and other corporate transactional matters. Fluent in Portuguese and proficient in Spanish, he assists clients of different backgrounds around the world in meeting their business goals.

Zachary graduated from University of Michigan Law School, where he served as president of the Black Law Students Association. He also has experience as an intern at a top international arbitration firm in São Paulo, Brazil. Zachary earned his B.A. in International Business with Emphasis in Latin America and Portuguese, magna cum laude, from San Diego State University. During his time in college, Zachary studied at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) and interned at a pharmaceutical development and manufacturing company in Portugal.

Representative experience

Talanx AG on the pending US$1.5bn acquisition of Liberty Mutual’s personal and small commercial insurance businesses in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Ecuador. 

Pavlov Media on a major investment by a global asset manager for construction of fiber infrastructure.

Saint-Gobain, a French industrial group, and its Ceramics business unit on the acquisition of U.S.-based refractory producer Monofrax, LLC from the German private equity fund Callista.

National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited, the largest bank in Jamaica, on its US$300m issuance under its Merchant Voucher Receivables (MVR) securitization program.

Banco Pichincha, the largest bank in Ecuador, on the second series of notes issued under its diversified payment rights (DPR) securitization program (valued at US$300m). 

Banco Industrial S.A., a Guatemalan bank, on a US$195m issuance and subsequent US$135m issuance from its diversified payments rights (DPR) securitization program.
