Patrick Petrocelli is an experienced trial lawyer who regularly represents companies and individuals in all phases of litigation. His practice focuses on accountants’ liability, securities litigation, class action defense, insolvency litigation, and complex real estate disputes. He also has extensive experience enforcing judgments, with a particular focus on sovereign immunity issues. Patrick has successfully represented his clients’ interests through litigation victories, out-of-court settlements, and mediated negotiations.

Patrick’s clients include global and national accounting and consulting firms, financial institutions, investment firms, real estate owners and developers, and individuals. Patrick maintains an active prisoner rights pro bono practice.

Prior to entering private practice, Patrick served as a law clerk to the Honorable Brian M. Cogan of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

Successfully obtained dismissal of class action complaint brought against international company relating to audits of Cayman Islands-based investment funds.*

Represented national accounting firm in class action lawsuit relating to audits of investment funds.*

Represented national accounting firm in federal securities class action lawsuit relating to audits of publicly-traded consumer brands company.*

Represented national accounting firm in multi-week arbitration relating to audit of consumer brands company.*

Successfully obtained affirmance from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit of judgment awarding terrorism victims 40% interest in a commercial skyscraper located in midtown Manhattan.*

Successfully obtained affirmance from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit of judgment awarding terrorism victims over US$17m in assets owned by the Islamic Republic of Iran.*

Represented terrorism victims in litigation seeking to execute judgments by seizing over US$60m worth of Iranian-owned oil and its proceeds.*

Represented noteholders in plan confirmation litigation in the chapter 11 proceedings of Intelsat.*

Represented noteholders in the chapter 15 recognition proceedings of Calfrac Well Services, as well as in related appeals in the Southern District of Texas and the Fifth Circuit.*

Represented real estate owner in litigation relating to the termination of an agreement involving the redevelopment of real property located in midtown Manhattan.*

Obtained a favorable settlement on behalf of the estate of a deceased individual who committed suicide following prolonged confinement in solitary housing.*

Represented Jamaican nationals in civil damages and habeas lawsuits following their 30-day detention at sea by U.S. Coast Guard and subsequent criminal prosecution in federal court.*
