From Congress to clients | Senator Kyrsten Sinema

on shaping policy, leading change, and joining Hogan Lovells

Known for turning plans into action and solving complex challenges for businesses, Senator Kyrsten Sinema brings deep experience across AI, tech, digital assets, and energy – and a pragmatic, bipartisan approach that drives real results.

In this Q&A, she shares how her time in Congress shaped her approach to helping clients thrive at the intersection of business and government, her unique perspective on emerging trends, and why now was the right time to join our firm.

What drew you to join Hogan Lovells at this point in your career?

For over 20 years in public service, I focused on what really matters – setting aside partisan politics to deliver real results. I’ve always believed in bringing people together to tackle tough challenges, and that’s exactly what Hogan Lovells does. Their track record of working across sectors to solve complex problems speaks for itself. I’m excited to join the team and keep building on the work I did in Congress to make a lasting impact.

How have your six years in the U.S. Senate shaped your ability to support clients?

In the Senate, I built strong, personal relationships with my colleagues – rooted in trust – and developed a knack for bringing people together who might not otherwise find common ground. That’s how real solutions happen. I will work with anyone willing to get things done, which led to major legislative wins like the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the CHIPS and Science Law, the Inflation Reduction Act, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, and the Electoral Count Reform Act, just to name a few. When you bring the right people to the table and focus on results, you can make real, lasting change.

What emerging trends are you most excited about?

Right now is an incredibly exciting time for emerging markets and disruptive sectors. AI, digital assets, and energy are transforming how we live, work, and connect with each other. With a new administration, there’s a real opportunity to challenge conventional thinking, push creative solutions, and make sure America stays at the forefront of innovation. The future belongs to those willing to think differently – and I’m all in on that approach.

How can we support clients interacting at the intersection of business and government?

My time in Congress gave me a unique perspective on the challenges businesses face when dealing with the government. The key to solving these challenges isn’t just knowing the rules – it’s about building relationships, inside and outside of government, and understanding both the politics and the process. Real solutions happen when you bring the right people together and know how to turn plans into action.
