Robert Norton is a consultant in the firm’s Tokyo office. With more than two decades of experience practicing in both the United States and Japan, he advises Japanese, U.S., and international clients on patent and trademark prosecution, IP licensing, freedom‑to‑operate analyses, and global portfolio strategy before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Robert also assists clients with a wide range of corporate and regulatory matters, including environmental litigation, employment and outsourcing agreements, corporate formation and dissolution, real estate matters, and business combinations.

Robert obtained his J.D. from the St. John’s University School of Law and his B.A. in Biological Sciences from the University of Connecticut. Before joining the firm, he held senior roles within the intellectual property practices of major international and U.S. law firms in Tokyo and New York. He has native fluency in both English and Japanese.
