Matthes Schröder advises German and international clients on all aspects of individual and collective employment law. His work in particular covers reorganizations, transactional employment law and the representation of clients before German labor courts in collective employment issues and before conciliatory boards. He also has extensive experience in all legal questions relating to third-party personnel, in particular employee leasing. Clients note his special skills in negotiations on the conclusion and termination of service agreements with executives and praise as his ability to quickly adapt to very different corporate cultures.

He studied law at the universities of Berlin and Glasgow, focusing on employment law early in his studies and completed his legal education at the superior Court of Justice in Berlin and in a local law firm, where he already mainly dealt with employment law related questions. Matthes is co-editor of, as well as contributor to the German standard reference on employment law "Beck'sches Formularbuch Arbeitsrecht" (publisher C.H. Beck, currently available in its 4rd edition).
