Yuiko Matsumura is a highly versatile brands and designs lawyer who delivers practical results due to her Japanese and multijurisdictional expertise.  Drawing upon a robust background as a trademark attorney at Hogan Lovells and as a design attorney at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Yuiko navigates complex issues to help Japanese as well as multinational clients protect, manage and enforce their intellectual property rights.   This includes a growing number of foreign companies intending to do business in Japan.

Yuiko’s clients value her extensive international expertise in brands and designs, which she gained during seven professional years in Europe after four academic years in the US and Singapore.  In addition to her extensive IP knowledge, her work experience stemming from her time in private practice at Hogan Lovells and later also covering public sectors in the Japanese government and at WIPO, makes her a rare asset in the global legal landscape.

Legally qualified both in Japan and in New York, Yuiko provides trademark and design services ranging from clearance searches, filing, prosecution and assignment recordings to portfolio management and enforcement, as well as broader strategic support.  With a strong focus on her clients’ legal and commercial interests, Yuiko knows how to achieve results in Japan and IP systems around the world.
