Melissa Giangrande focuses her practice on complex government and internal investigations.
Her experience includes representing clients in matters related to the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Senate Finance Committee, and various state attorneys general.
Melissa also maintains an active pro bono practice that includes regularly appearing in court on behalf of survivors of violent crimes and children caught in contentious custody battles. Highlighting injustices plaguing the criminal justice system, she has also co-authored numerous amicus curiae briefs in federal appellate courts and the United States Supreme Court. Melissa was named the 2022 "Volunteer of the Year" by the D.C. Volunteer Lawyers Project and 2023 "Pro Bono Trailblazer" for her work litigating on behalf of pro bono clients.
Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Melissa served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Deborah K. Chasanow of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. During law school, Melissa worked at the U.S. Department of Justice Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section and served as a judicial extern in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Before law school, she served as a legal analyst at Goldman Sachs.
