How is Federal Policy Driving the Energy Transition?

On Tuesday, 23 May 2023, Hogan Lovells hosted a webinar focused on updates to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act for renewable energy, energy transition, and decarbonization projects. Presenters included Mary Anne Sullivan, former General Counsel of the Department of Energy and Senior Counsel, and Jamie Wickett, Partner and energy tax policy specialist.

Presenters discussed the following topics:

• Key provisions, drivers, trends and considerations related to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) as implementation of the legislation takes shape.
• Explore how clean energy investment in the US is reacting to factors that are shaping new opportunities to meet decarbonization goals.
• What are the critical steps for counsel seeking to take advantage of tax credits and direct funding incentives available to help finance renewable energy transition and decarbonization projects?

We will be continuing our series relating to IIJA, IRA and clean energy with sessions on prevailing wage and apprenticeship issues and guidance from our employment practice and energy innovation investment beyond wind and solar, including the topics of fission and fusion, hydrogen, and sustainable fuels from our energy practices.
