Brian R. Chappell

Brian Chappell has been an active part of the ever-evolving energy industry for over 25 years. As co-chair of the firm's Power and Renewables Global Industry Sector Team, Brian continues to drive innovation in the energy industry.

Brian has been a registered professional engineer since 1996. His background as an electrical engineer allows him to bring a rare perspective to the table with insight and experience to assist clients in solving commercial, technical, and legal challenges in order to successfully achieve their goals — whether it is an M&A transaction involving an international portfolio of assets, structuring new and innovative joint ventures, investments in new technologies, or the development and financing of energy projects in emerging markets.

Brian is listed in Chambers Global, Projects; Chambers USA, Projects; and Legal 500 US, Energy. The Chambers Global Guide notes that Brian's clients have described him as "hard-working, responsive and he doesn't over-lawyer the deal."

Before joining Hogan Lovells, Brian spent 10 years in the electric utility industry holding a variety of positions, including Director of System and Reliability Planning and Director of Contract Administration for BGE.

"He continues to elicit applause for his work in the alternative energy and renewables market."
