Lachlan Blair utilizes his background in chemistry to assist life science clients in protecting and commercializing their innovations.
Lachlan supports clients working to treat and prevent a range of disorders including in the areas of oncology, inflammatory, metabolic, neurological, and infectious diseases. Lachlan helps clients to develop patent strategy, drafts and prosecutes patent applications, delivers freedom-to-operate and patentability analyses, and conducts research for IP due diligence projects. Lachlan's experience includes managing IP portfolios related to a range of technologies, including small molecule therapeutics, drug delivery platforms, medical devices, polymers, food science, peptides, and sustainable energy.
Prior to joining the firm Lachlan was a technical specialist at an IP boutique in Boston. Lachlan is a registered patent agent, and earned his PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Auckland, and also conducted post-doctoral research at Boston University. His background in chemistry focused on organic synthesis of complex natural products, and methodology development for organocatalysis. Lachlan is currently pursuing a JD as a part-time evening student.
