Lachlan’s background in organic and medicinal chemistry, combined with eight years of experience in patent law, enables him to help life science innovators protect and advance their technologies and businesses. He works with life science companies ranging from early‑stage startups to mature pharmaceutical companies developing treatments, diagnostics, and drug‑delivery platforms across different areas including rare diseases, neurological and metabolic disorders, pain, oncology, and infectious diseases.

Lachlan provides creative strategies to secure robust, global protection for his clients’ innovations, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications and managing extensive patent portfolios with an eye toward meaningful protection in competitive landscapes. He also supports clients engaged in transactions by conducting validity and infringement risk analyses, in addition to offering freedom‑to‑operate and patentability analyses. In addition, Lachlan has experience with pre‑litigation research and risk assessment.
