One of the hallmark policy goals of the Department of the Interior, under the leadership of Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell and President Barack Obama, has been to institutionalize a landscape-level approach to natural resource management and planning and to require federal agencies to adopt new standards to govern their mitigation policies.
