Thom Leonard is a senior associate in the firm’s Real Estate Practice, based in London.  He has worked closely with the firm's Infrastructure Energy Resources and Projects team, advising on the property-related elements of a number of energy generation transactions, including the acquisition, development and financing of energy from waste facilities, power stations, gas pipelines and other infrastructure assets for energy generating clients. His other work includes advising clients on the management of retail, leisure and office properties in a number of central London developments.

Representative experience

The Crown Estate on the management of offshore wind and tidal assets, leasing arrangements with developers, and artificial nesting structures to satisfy compensatory requirements for windfarms.

Encyclis, Veolia and GIG on the development of the 60MW Rookery waste-to-energy facility in Bedfordshire, including site assembly and real estate aspects of the project financing.

Barclays Investment Bank on the real estate aspects of a debt facility and securitisation backed by a commercial and industrial solar portfolio.

Related Argent on the management of King's Cross, including offices and Coal Drops Yard.

Shaftesbury on asset management and the real estate aspects of its financings, including flagship retail and leisure lettings across its Carnaby, Seven Dials and Fitzrovia portfolios.

John Laing Environmental Assets Group on the acquisition of anaerobic digestion plants, onshore wind farms, solar parks and PV installations, and the refinancing of its renewables portfolio.
