Shantay is a banking and finance counsel based in Shanghai.  She has extensive experience in advising on a wide range of financing transactions with a focus on structured finance, real estate finance as well as restructuring matters.  

Shantay has acted for China-based borrowers, financial institutions, and private equity sponsors in various cross-border financing transactions. 

Having obtained law degrees in both Hong Kong and mainland China, and being a native Mandarin and fluent Cantonese speaker, Shantay has become a trustworthy legal adviser to both international and Chinese clients. Representative experience

Advising China CITIC Bank in relation to a syndicated acquisition finance (comprising onshore and offshore banks) for an acquisition of a Toronto listed company by a PRC based company.

Advising Oaktree on its subscription for up to US$1 billion of secured notes to a subsidiary of Vedanta Resources, the Indian resources conglomerate.

Advising a syndicate of lenders led by Standard Chartered Bank Hong Kong in relation to a US$200 million term loan facility granted to China Tian Lun Gas Holdings Limited.

Advising an ad hoc group of noteholders in relation to the restructuring of USD200m Notes due 2021 issued by Yestar Healthcare Holdings Company Limited.

Advising an ad hoc group of noteholders in relation to the restructuring of USD500m Notes due 2021 issued by GCL New Energy Holdings Limited.

Advising certain holders in relation to the restructuring of USD200m 7.99% Notes due 2021 issued by Knight Castle Investments Limited.

Advising the note trustee in respect of certain US$ notes issued by Tsinghua Unigroup in relation to the filing of claims in the PRC bankruptcy process.
