As part of the Hogan Lovells Privacy and Cybersecurity practice, Alex Rutherford advises clients on range of complex data protection and cybersecurity matters across a number of sectors, including technology and retail.
Alex has worked with clients on a variety of privacy and cybersecurity issues, including the General Data Protection Regulation. In particular, this has involved helping clients develop data protection compliance strategies, negotiating data processing and sharing agreements, and assisting with data breach notifications.
Recently, Alex spent 6 months in the firm's Amsterdam office. This experience, together with his secondment to Dubai as a trainee, has enabled Alex to understand and appreciate the global nature of privacy; and he particularly enjoys working on multi-jurisdictional matters.
Representative experience
Assisting multinationals on assessing privacy compliance implications/risks involved in strategic acquisitions.
Drafting and negotiating data processing and data sharing agreements.
Assisting global companies on data breaches and handling data breach notifications with regulators.
Drafting intragroup/data transfer agreement, including addressing Brexit data privacy considerations.
Assisting with the development and implementation of Binding Corporate Rules.
