Joaquín is a Junior Associate in the Intellectual Property, Media and Technology practice of the Hogan Lovells Madrid office. 

He focuses on the enforcement and litigation of IP rights, particularly in multi-jurisdictional disputes in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications and Life Sciences industries relating to patents, trademarks, unfair competition, copyright and trade secrets. Joaquín has been involved in a wide range of complex IP disputes brought before the Spanish Commercial Courts and the European Union Trademark Court, as well as in pre-contentious advice regarding IP matters for a variety of clients.

Representative experience

Advising several global smartphone manufacturers and their Spanish and European distributors in two of the first SEP and FRAND disputes related to 3G/UMTS, 4G/LTE & 5G connectivity technology.

Advising several global smartphone manufacturers in protective actions launched before the Barcelona courts in connection with the Mobile World Congress.

Advising a multinational company in patent infringement proceedings concerning technological solutions for providing virtually enhanced advertising spaces in live sports broadcast.

Advising one of the world's major telecommunications and IT services companies in a trademark-related dispute before the Spanish Commercial courts against one of its main competitors.

Advising one of the world’s leading digital travel and accommodation companies in trademark infringement proceedings concerning domain names before the European Union Trademark Court in Alicante. 

Jointly advising a major player in the e-commerce sector and one of the world's largest car manufacturers in a trade mark infringement and unfair competition dispute (European Union Trade Mark Court)

Advising a global consumer goods company in relation to a potential patent dispute arising from the expected launch of a new version of a candy product.
