Trump Administration Executive Order (EO) Tracker
As previously reported, the Obama Administration is reported to be considering the issuance of an Executive Order on cybersecurity in light of the current legislative impasse on this topic. This week Senator Feinstein (D-CA), the Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, called on the President to take such action.
In her open letter to the White House, Senator Feinstein stated that because “our critical infrastructure, our financial hubs, and our ability to defend the Nation are at risk, we must take action to address these vulnerabilities as soon as possible. I therefore urge you to issue an Executive Order, or take other appropriate action, to advance the cybersecurity of our Nation’s critical infrastructure.” She acknowledged the limitations inherent in such action however, noting that Administration lacks the power to, for example, provide legal certainty or protection for corporations that share cybersecurity threat information with government.
The Senator’s call for action follows similar such encouragement by Senator Rockefeller (D-WV), another champion of comprehensive cybersecurity legislation.
