A Partner in Hogan Lovells' leading Real Estate Disputes Team, Paul Tonkin focuses on development disputes. He guides clients through the contentious aspects of large development schemes and has extensive experience of obtaining vacant possession of development sites, often in the most time-pressured and sensitive of situations. Paul is also one of very few lawyers who fully understand the complex area of rights of light and is regularly instructed to advise on rights of light issues on high profile development schemes in central London and beyond.

Paul is also recognized for his broad knowledge in rent review and is regularly approached by both landlords and occupiers to advise on complex rent reviews. He is a member of ARBRIX and has been described as "best in class" for rent review.

Acting for a large utilities provider in obtaining an emergency injunction to enable police to remove environmental protestors from a power station.

Successfully acting for a major international developer in a three week trial relating to adverse possession and ancient mooring rights over the River Thames.

Acting for a major bank in multi-million pound professional negligence proceedings against a firm of values, including representation at a successful mediation.

Acting for a major international developer in court proceedings successfully contesting a refusal of consent under a restrictive covenant which would have otherwise prevented a multi-million pound luxury residential development.
