‘Every year, our Hot 100 covers an incredibly diverse mix of legal professionals,’ The Lawyer reported, ‘scrappers from the rough and tumble of criminal law; sophisticated corporate dealmakers; intellectuals and silver-tongued advocates from barristers' profession; the in-house counsel with the ear of their CEOs; associates rising to greatness. But whatever world they come from, they are all doing amazing work. The work they are doing is important NOW.’
Andrew Eaton, counsel in Hogan Lovells’ Global Regulatory practice, was recognised by The Lawyer for his pivotal role in one of 2024’s most high-profile legal disputes: the US$472 million claim brought against the London Metal Exchange (LME) regarding cancelled nickel trades. The case arose from the LME’s proactive decision in March 2022 to suspend nickel trading and cancel trades following an unprecedented 270% surge in nickel prices over just three days. In his profile, the Lawyer describe him as ‘a trailblazing associate in the world of public and administrative law.’
Andrew commented: “It’s an incredible honour to be recognised by The Lawyer and to stand alongside so many remarkable professionals in the UK legal community. This recognition reflects not just my efforts but the unwavering support and collaboration of my colleagues at Hogan Lovells. I’m proud to have contributed to achieving an important victory for our client in complex and high-stakes circumstances, and I look forward to continuing to help our clients navigate the intersection of business, law and policy as part of our market-leading Public Law and Policy team.”
