Annie Madding advises clients on complex domestic and cross-border investigations, enforcement actions, and compliance matters. Her practice includes representing multinational corporations in matters involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), U.S. export control laws, and the False Claims Act. Annie also has extensive experience representing clients in the food industry in criminal and other enforcement investigations related to the Food Drug and Cosmetic Act. 

Annie is deeply committed to pro bono work, focusing on environmental protection, immigration, and death penalty issues. She was previously the recipient of the Immigration Justice Campaign award for her advocacy.  

Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Annie served as Deputy Voter Protection Director for Pennsylvania for the Harris-Walz campaign, playing a key role in legal and advocacy responses to voting issues statewide. She has also served as a Visiting Associate Professor at National Taiwan University, teaching International Environmental Law and conducting research as a recipient of the Taiwan Fellowship.

Annie began her legal career as a clerk for the Honorable Richard Clifton on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Representative experience

Counsel to a medical device manufacturer in SEC and DOJ FCPA investigation in Vietnam and Indonesia. 

Representing leading food company in connection with criminal investigation under the FDCA.

Counsel to Chinese telecommunications company regarding corporate compliance monitorship related to U.S. export control and sanctions laws.

Represented asylum applicant in appeals before U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.
