Dara is an associate in our International Arbitration group, with experience in high value, cross-border proceedings under the rules of the LCIA, ICC, SIAC and UNCITRAL. Dara acts for companies and on behalf of States, with a practice spanning a number of sectors including life sciences, technology, finance, and construction and engineering.
Dara is of Serbian and Montenegrin origin and is a native speaker of both languages, with previous legal and finance experience in the Balkans. She completed an MSc in the Political Economy of Europe from the London School of Economics and a BA in both Slavic Languages and Literatures and Political Economics from the University of California, Berkeley before undertaking her legal studies in London.
Representative experience
Acting for a mining company as claimant in an ICC arbitration regarding the ownership of an SPV operating a North African mining concession.
Advising a joint venture in connection with a shareholder dispute over the delivery of a recycling facility in the Middle East and potential LCIA arbitration in the DIFC.
Acting for a security trustee as claimant in an LCIA arbitration against the Ultimate Beneficial Owners of a corporate group borrower concerning the non-payment of lent sums of over USD 150 million.
Acting for a European commodities company as claimant in a set of London-seated LCIA and ICC arbitrations arising out of allegedly wrongful termination of English-law-governed supply agreements.
Acting for the majority shareholders of a British online fashion and retail brand in an unfair prejudice claim brought under the UNCITRAL rules.
Acting for an Indonesian energy company in a SIAC arbitration against a leading FSRU provider for disputes arising out of a lease, operation and maintenance agreement amounting to over USD 400m.
Acting for infrastructure funds as respondents in a SIAC arbitration over alleged breaches of a securities purchase agreement in a USD 105m deal in India.
