Environmental enforcement and compliance issues are increasingly bleeding across borders and jurisdictions and into unfamiliar venues. Misty Howell stands ready to help her clients navigate the challenges posed by today's complex and rapidly evolving environmental enforcement and compliance landscape.
Misty counsels and advocates for clients in environmental matters ranging from due diligence to investigations to civil, criminal, and agency litigation; she has helped clients with matters before the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Energy, Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, various state environmental agencies, congressional committees, and federal, state, and foreign courts. Misty has experience with environmental statutes including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, CERCLA, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Toxic Substances Control Act, Administrative Procedure Act, and related laws and regulations.
While in law school, Misty was an evening student and worked as a law clerk for a boutique litigation firm. Misty was also an editor for the Georgetown Law Journal, a member of the Trial Advocacy team, and participated in the International Women's Human Rights Clinic. Misty maintains a robust pro bono practice and has been recognized on the Capital Pro Bono High Honor Roll.
