Mariel is Senior Associate (Australian Qualified) in the International Arbitration team in London. 

Mariel focusses on dispute resolution and claims management on major infrastructure and resources projects.  Her experience includes advising government and industry clients in relation to the interpretation and administration of construction contracts.  Mariel has acted for clients in arbitral and litigation proceedings, as well as in various alternative dispute resolution forums such as expert determinations and dispute avoidance boards. 

In 2021, Mariel was seconded to a government client to support a project team delivering a significant package of Australia's largest road infrastructure project.  Her experience on secondment included advising in relation to claims for additional time and cost, as well as in relation to various contractual interpretation issues.  

*Mariel is an Australian qualified lawyer and holds an Australian practicing certificate issued by the Law Society of New South Wales. 

Representative experience

Acting for a government client in relation to a dispute arising from Australia's largest public transport project. *

Acting for an industry client in arbitral proceedings under the SIAC rules arising from a major construction project at an iron ore open cut mine. *  

Advising various industry clients in relation to liability for rectification of combustible cladding. *
