Doug is an English-qualified counsel in the Amsterdam Global Debt Finance team. He advises funds, banks and sponsors on a range of Dutch and English corporate lending matters across the credit spectrum, with experience on market leading fund finance, real estate, leveraged finance and investment grade matters.
Clients come to him for a commercial, solutions-focused approach to their debt documentation, especially for matters involving an intersection of English and Dutch law - for which he offers a one stop shop. He is also a convenient EU-based contact for European clients seeking advice on English law issues.
Doug has particular expertise on green loans and sustainability linked financing, having advised on several innovative products, including the first major margin-ratcheted green loan in the Netherlands. He regularly delivers client training on this and other topics.
Before joining Hogan Lovells, Doug was a managing associate at a magic circle law firm in Amsterdam. He trained as a solicitor in London, before relocating to the Netherlands in 2018. Doug is registered with the Amsterdam Order of Advocates under article 16h of the Advocatenwet.
