John is a versatile litigator with experience representing financial institutions, venture capital firms, health care and technology companies, and individuals in a variety of commercial disputes at both the trial and appellate levels. A former journalist, John knows how to cut through the noise and tell his clients’ stories in a way that resonates.

Before joining Hogan Lovells, John clerked for the Hon. Carlos F. Lucero on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and for the Hon. Stephanie A. Gallagher on the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. John also previously worked in the Washington, D.C. office of another law firm.  

Representative experience

Defending major health care provider and former executives against fraudulent transfer, illegal dividend, and related claims brought by bankruptcy trustee, seeking more than US$2 billion in damages

Defending a venture capital firm in a putative RICO class action relating to the firm’s investment in an online gaming company*

Represented a technology company in Federal Circuit appeal challenging decisions by the Patent Trial and Appeal Board invalidating the company’s patents*
