Before attending law school, Carter was a consultant for The Winvale Group LLC, helping businesses sell to the federal government on the General Services Administration (GSA) schedule. During law school, Carter worked for two years as a law clerk for Lockheed Martin Corporation, where he collaborated with team leaders, reviewed documents, and drafted legal memos across multiple areas of law.

With his varied experience, Carter developed a holistic view of corporate law. As a new associate in Hogan Lovells' Antitrust, Competition, and Economic Regulation (ACER) practice group, he uses his knowledge to provide unique insights and nuanced perspectives.

For the past three years, Carter has also served on the James Madison University Law Alumni Board. In this role, he mentors undergraduate students interested in pursuing legal careers, contributes to university decisions regarding the pre-law program, and assists with scholarship fundraising efforts.
