Alexandra Badillo is an international trade lawyer with five years of experience advising private sector companies on customs and trade compliance matters. Prior to joining the firm, she worked at leading Mexican law firms where she developed her practice in customs and international trade advisory and strategy.

Her experience includes assisting multinational companies across a range of industries, including automotive, chemical, food, textile and manufacturing.

Alexandra focuses her practice on international trade and customs transactions, with experience in IMMEX authorizations, antidumping proceedings, regulatory compliance matters (including Mexican Official Standards and permitting), origin verifications, administrative proceedings, rules of origin, export controls, and import and export regimes. She also advises clients in contentious matters and government audits.

Representative experience

Advised a global cosmetics company in multiple origin verification procedures and participated in the legal strategy against adverse origin determinations issued by Mexican customs authorities.*

Assisted an automotive parts manufacturer in a customs audit and supported the defense against a determination related to virtual return requirements.*

Advised companies in obtaining and maintaining export promotion and certification programs, including IMMEX and VAT certification regimes, as well as ongoing compliance obligations.*

Participated in several antidumping investigations representing companies across different industries, including tires, food products, PVC, steel and other manufactured goods.*

Supported the regulatory and customs implementation for the commencement of textile manufacturing operations in Mexico for an international apparel group.*

 Participated in the legal strategy to obtain tax refunds derived from export operations for an industrial equipment manufacturer.*

Assisted in the preparation and filing of IMMEX program authorizations for multinational manufacturing companies.*
