Client

Anna-Katharina Friese-Okoro specializes in all matters of patent law and the protection of trade and business secrets or know-how and has meanwhile many years of experience with all types of patent litigation for international and national clients in the fields of telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and mechanical engineering. One of her main areas of practice is litigation in patent infringement proceedings (main proceedings as well as preliminary injunction and inspection proceedings) before German infringement courts as well as in patent nullity proceedings before the Federal Patent Court and the Federal Supreme Court or opposition proceedings before the EPO. Her experience is particularly outstanding in the management and organization of parallel international patent litigation.

Anna is also well prepared to represent clients before the Unified Patent Court (UPC), which will come into force in 2023. She advises clients on issues related to the strategic structure of the patent portfolio in light of the new UPC system and the new unitary patent. Annais part of our core team preparing Hogan Lovells for the launch of the new system and regularly publishes on the UPC.

In addition to patents, her second area of expertise concerns the protection and judicial enforcement of know-how and trade secrets. In this regard, she not only represents clients in legal proceedings before German courts in cases of infringement of trade secrets, but also develops customized protection concepts for national and international clients on how to effectively and permanently protect their trade secrets.

In addition, she advises on technology transactions and the drafting of license, joint venture and research and development agreements.
