Andreas von Falck has been a partner since 1998 and is based in the firm's Dusseldorf office. He specialises in litigation/counselling in the areas of patent law and all other areas of IP with a focus on the pharmaceutical, medical devices and high-tech industries. Andreas handles patent cases in all German Courts and in the European Patent office. In addition, he advises on parallel patent litigation in various jurisdictions, as well as on transactional matters such as negotiating and drafting licensing agreements, the structuring of joint ventures and the acquisition of businesses.
Andreas is recommended for patent litigation by Chambers Global World's Leading Lawyers, Who's Who Legal, Managing Intellectual Property, Legal 500, and JUVE, the leading German legal directory. He is a regular speaker at patent law conferences and teaches national and international patent law at Dusseldorf University Intellectual Property Center. He has published extensively on a variety of subjects such as preliminary injunctions in patent matters, the intersection between competition law and patents, pharmaceutical patent litigation and is also the author of the section on patents and utility models in the German Computer Law Handbook.
Andreas studied law in Germany, France and Switzerland between 1988 and 1992. He holds a Ph.D. in International Civil Procedural Law from Freiburg University (1997). In 1996 he worked as visiting attorney at Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett and Dunner in Washington D.C., USA.
Andreas is the leader of the firm's International Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Group.
REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE
- His most recent representations include, on the Life sciences side, working for Eli Lilly, Merck, Merz, Roche, Alk-Abello, Novartis, and Sanofi-Aventis. On the technology side, Andreas has worked, among others, for Research in Motion, Motorola, KPN and a variety of other leading handheld and infrastructure equipment manufacturers.
