Energy. Mining. Oil and gas. Scot Anderson has been serving clients in those industries for decades. As Global Head of the Energy & Natural Resources Group, Scot employs his comprehensive knowledge and experience to counsel and support clients on nearly every legal issue affecting the extractive industries, both domestically and internationally.

Scot's practice revolves around commercial transactions, regulatory advice, and project development. He oversees complex transactions for natural resources clients, including the formation of new joint ventures, the divestiture of natural resources projects, and the acquisition of leases and reserves. He represents clients in administrative proceedings as well as federal and state courts. He regularly addresses issues related to mineral development of federal public lands and Indian lands. Scot also advises clients on international project development and transactions. He has worked on matters throughout North and South America, as well as Europe, Australia, Africa, and Asia.

Scot began his legal career with the Denver office of an Am Law 100 firm and then served 10 years as in-house counsel for Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO) in Denver and England.

Scot is also active in his community. He is currently Vice-Chairman of the Special Institutes Committee and a member of the Board of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation. He works with the International Senior Lawyers Project to provide legal support and capacity building for developing economies, including Afghanistan, Tanzania, Malawi, and Liberia. Scot is also the Chairman of the Board of Funzeleo, Inc., an organization promoting STEM education in Africa. He is an emeritus member of the Board of Directors of Boys Hope Girls Hope of Colorado, a multi-denominational nonprofit organization benefiting young scholars. He is also a past president of the Denver Chapter of the International Mining Professionals Association.
