Juan Valcárcel is an associate in the Insurance and Reinsurance team in Madrid. He has participated in several corporate transactions within the sector, advising both domestic and international insurance companies on M&A deals, joint ventures, bancassurance alliances, and reorganisations, often from a transnational perspective.

Juan also provides general advice on corporate governance and day-to-day assistance in Solvency II regulatory issues, offering support on complex, challenging matters such as EU-wide co-insurance agreements, structured products, outsourcing of critical functions, and unit-linked plans. He has represented clients before the Spanish financial regulatory authorities (DGSFP, CNMV) in transactions where approval from or notification to the relevant regulators is needed.

Used to work for major financial institutions, Juan also has a genuine interest in the quickly evolving fintech and insurtech areas, and concentrates as well on the implications of regulatory requirements for innovative products, providing regular advice to payment services entities and other fintech players in their reporting obligations, AML aspects, and legal compliance of their unique business models.
