As an associate in the Antitrust, Competition and Economic Regulation (ACER) practice of Hogan Lovells Brussels, Ivan Pico advises clients on a range of EU regulatory matters with a particular focus on EU competition law, including antitrust and merger control. His experience includes working on complex international mergers, global cartel investigations, distribution agreements and abuse of dominance cases.

As a Belgian qualified lawyer, Ivan regularly pleads before the Belgian courts. He helps clients in making sure that their commercial practices are in accordance with competition laws and in setting up internal compliance programs. Ivan frequently deals with the Dutch competition authority in order to secure the necessary merger approvals for clients looking at expanding and/or selling a part of their business. Ivan also assists several companies active in the area of defense with EU and international law related advice.

Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Ivan worked at the Cartels Directorate of the European Commission's Directorate General for Competition, where he gained insights in the technology and energy industries.

Representative experience

Advising two of the leading carriers in the vehicles shipping sector regarding cartel investigations in multiple jurisdictions

Secured the Dutch competition authority's Phase I approval for the sale of Dun&Bradstreet Corporation's Benelux business to the private equity fund Altares/Naxicap

Advised Kudelski Group on the required multi-jurisdictional merger filings for the acquisition of Civolution BV
