Owen Chan is 'responsive and very creative' and 'strong in negotiations'. He bolsters the team's offering for Hong Kong and PRC work with his expertise in China-focused transactions

Chambers Asia 2015

China is now the world's second largest economy; its rapid development has first attracted very strong inbound investments and then spurred large scale outbound acquisitions. Financing such investments and acquisitions requires a good understanding of onshore and offshore law and regulations as well as the knowledge and skills to put them to work together.

Owen Chan leads a bilingual team of international banking and finance lawyers based in Hong Kong and mainland China, working with international financial institutions, PE funds, and multinational companies in their most complex and structured cross-border transactions.

Owen and his team have vast experience in cross-border acquisition finance, property finance, structured finance, and restructuring and are highly regarded for our leading China finance practice.

Owen has been a leading individual in Legal 500, IFLR, and Chambers Asia. He acted for the lenders in the award-winning US$3.2 billion financing facility for COFCO's acquisition of Noble Group Limited's agri-business and the Dutch commodity trader and agri-business company Nidera.
