Practice groupLitigation

Emily Goldman is a passionate advocate for her clients. During the most complex elements of litigation, she is creative, forward-thinking, and mindful of the short- and long-term implications legal actions have on her clients' businesses. Emily's balanced mix of civil litigation and investigations experience allows her to flag and remove issues before they arise.

Emily has worked across many industries, but has a specific focus on the life sciences, automotive, and education sectors. Notably, she has worked to defend a globally recognized medical research facility and an international auto parts manufacturer from allegations of misconduct brought by various entities. Emily makes this possible by skillfully navigating discovery, complex contract disputes, and institutional liability – quickly accelerating cases from discovery through argument – making her an invaluable asset to her clients. Additionally, she has drafted pleadings and other filings for numerous federal courts, international arbitrations, and immigration courts.

In addition to her work in civil litigation and investigations, Emily also maintains an active pro bono practice. Her pro bono work includes successfully overturning state-wide voter suppression laws in Georgia; fighting to improve death row conditions in South Carolina; working to hold D.C. city officials accountable by ensuring the city provides public benefits in compliance with federal law; representing public defendants in cases of assault and property damage; and representing a minor in her application for asylum.

During law school, Emily served as an Executive Editor for the Michigan Journal of Environmental and Administrative Law, and interned with the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice. Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, she clerked on the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.
