With almost 40 years' experience in intellectual property law, Winfried retired in 2006, but remained active as 'of Counsel'. He participates in constructing the new European patent litigation system. Winfried has published more than 100 books and other publications on intellectual property, antitrust and business law.
Following his studies in Münster, Bonn, Athens/Ohio and Heidelberg he first worked as a judge at the regional court of Mannheim and as an advisor in patent and trademark law in the Federal Ministry of Justice. In 1979, Winfred joined the Dusseldorf law firm von Falck, a predecessor firm of Hogan Lovells. He is a member of the UPC Rules of Procedure Drafting Committee and of the Expert Group for the UPC Preparatory Committee.
