Jess Webster is an associate in our international arbitration and construction and engineering disputes team, with a focus on disputes in the energy sector.

Jess advises international clients on a range of complex commercial cross-border disputes. She has experience of arbitration under a variety of institutional rules, adjudications, and of litigation before the English courts.

Jess is currently on secondment at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Tokyo, where she advises on various aspects of their business both contentious and non-contentious.

In 2017, Jess spent 6 months on secondment at ExxonMobil where she worked on a range of upstream and downstream matters with a focus on downstream disputes, the retail business, and upstream divestments and acquisitions.

Representative experience

Acting in the Commercial Court for an international oil and gas major in relation to a dispute arising under a long term gas sales agreement.

Advising a multinational energy company in relation to a criminal investigation into alleged complicity in violations of international humanitarian law.

Acting for a European energy major in an LCIA arbitration relating to the sale and prior operation of petroleum licences offshore West Africa.

Acting in LCIA proceedings in respect of a dispute under a Joint Venture Agreement regarding a US$500m development project in Russia.

Acting in the TCC for a multi-national construction and engineering company in relation to the public procurement process for elements of a large UK railway project.

Acting for the main contractor in an adjudication regarding the construction of an onshore substation for an offshore wind farm.

Advising a European biomass power plant owner in relation to issues arising under a fuel supply agreement.

Advising a real estate investment trust in relation to disputes arising out of an hotel project in London and acting in a related adjudication.
