Valerie Datzer advises German and international clients on product liability, product safety and product compliance issues with a particular focus on automotive, consumer goods and electronics industry.

Valerie supports her clients particularly in the development of innovative products with regard to various products law issues. She advises her clients with a hands-on-approach and helps them to identify potential product liability risks at the earliest stage possible.

During her legal clerkship, Valerie worked for our offices in Paris and Munich. In addition to her German law degree, Valerie also obtained a Master's Degree in international and European law from the University of Bordeaux (Maîtrise en droit). For Valerie, giving back to the community is very important. This is why she participates in our citizenship-program "Debate-it" with local schools and trains young people in public speaking and debating skills.

Representative experience

Advising a leading automotive manufacturer on certain complex global product compliance aspects, especially linked to type-approval and/or vehicle certification requirements in 48 jurisdictions

Advising a global company on EU product compliance requirements regarding the market launch of an innovative high-tech product, including correspondence with BMVI and KBA

5-months secondment at the in-house legal department of a DAX 40 automotive manufacturer particularly focusing on product compliance, vehicle certification and vehicle homologation provisions

Advising several global automotive and electronic companies on product liability risk mitigation strategies including civil and criminal risks, etc.

Advising several OEMs and automotive suppliers on various cybersecurity requirements and implications, incl. OTA, autonomous driving, etc.
