Dr. Stephan Dorn
Stephan Dorn focuses his practice on IP litigation. He has experience in several areas of technology, namely, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, mechanics, and electronics with an emphasis on standardized telecommunication technology. Stephan has been also working on patent due diligence processes in the course of company transactions with regards to large patent portfolios. With a high level of commitment Stephan has also been tracking the development of the future European Patent with Unitary Effect (EPUE) and the Unified Patent Court (UPC).
He has been involved in the legislation process and contributed significantly to one of the major scientific publications about the EPUE and the UPC. He started his education in law at the honorable Faculty of Legal Sciences of the Rheinische-Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn (Germany). He clerked as trainee lawyer at the Regional District Court Cologne (Germany). While working as a research assistant at the University of Bonn and the University of Aachen (RWTH – Human Technology Centre), Stephan received a Ph.D. in law. His doctoral thesis investigates the interface of patents, innovation and standardized technology.
