Alex Sher helps clients navigate complex financial restructurings and insolvencies. Whether representing creditors, committees, debtors, bondholders, trustees, investors, or asset purchasers, Alex works with clients to find creative solutions that add value.

Alex has robust experience with all facets of Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings including, among other things, plans of reorganization/liquidations, contested debtor-in-possession financing and cash collateral use, issues regarding assumption and assignment or rejection of executory contacts and unexpired leases, asset sales pursuant to Section 363 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, labor issues, and pursuit and defense of avoidance actions. In addition, he has advised on several international restructurings, particularly involving Asia-Pacific countries.

Alex brings a unique outlook to his practice. He recently spent two years in Sydney, Australia gaining valuable international experience, and previously worked in New York. Before that he was a law clerk at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

Represented a bank with respect to financing Key Safety Systems' US$1.6bn acquisition of a substantial portion of the assets of global automotive parts manufacturer Takata through the company's Chapter 11 proceedings.*

Represented a secured lenders' steering committee with respect to distressed Australian mining and resource company Bis Industries, including successfully executing a debt for equity swap through two schemes of arrangement.*

Represented two funds with respect to the receivership of the Keystone Group, a large Australian restaurant and bar owner, including during complex landlord negotiations and the sale of 16 venues to multiple purchasers.*

Represented a senior secured lender of a distressed Indonesian borrower to obtain the return of a substantial portion of principal from a non-performing loan.*

Represented Relativity Media LLC, a privately held entertainment company providing film and television financing, production, and distribution, in connection with its Chapter 11 bankruptcy. *

Represented NII Holdings Inc., a provider of mobile communication services operating under the Nextel brand in Latin America, in connection with its Chapter 11 bankruptcy.*

Represented Hostess Brands Inc., a wholesale baker and distributor of bread and snack cakes, in connection with its Chapter 11 bankruptcy.*

Represented Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market Inc., a chain of grocery stores in the western United States, in connection with its Chapter 11 bankruptcy.*
