Michael Schagginger is a fully qualified German Patent Attorney and is completing his training to become a European Patent Attorney with us. By combining a profound technological understanding with extensive legal expertise in the field of intellectual property law, he advises clients in litigation matters.
Michael has extensive experience with technically complex patent prosecution and litigation cases in various fields of technology, with a particular focus on electronics, information and telecommunication technology, semiconductor technology, mechatronics as well as software. He supports national and international clients in litigation proceedings and provides his technical expertise to the attorneys-at-law at our firm.
Michael studied electrical engineering and information technology at the Technical University of Munich, where he worked at the Chair of Network Theory and Signal Processing of Professor Dr. Nossek. Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Michael completed the practical part of his patent attorney training with a focus on patent prosecution at a major patent law firm in Munich.

Advising an Israeli electrical engineering company in patent infringement and revocation proceedings against a Chinese competitor, as well as during Opposition and Appeal proceedings before the EPO.
Advising a leading North American-based network security company in patent infringement and revocation proceedings against its competitor regarding network security and firewall software.
Advising a Chinese smartphone manufacturer in patent infringement proceedings against a leading telecommunications corporation in a multi-national patent dispute.
Advising a North American high-tech company in patent infringement and revocation proceedings against a non-practicing entity (speech audio coding standard).
Advising a North American high-tech company in patent infringement and revocation proceedings (Wi-Fi communications standard).
