Phil Sandick represents financial institutions and private equity sponsors, as well as public and private companies, in connection with all aspects of environmental law, from transactional work to compliance counselling to trial and appellate litigation. Before entering private practice, Phil clerked with Judge Amy Totenberg in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. He also worked with the International Criminal Court on its first sentencing and the United Nations Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals. Phil maintains an active pro bono practice, representing individuals seeking habeas release, asylum, criminal record expungement, innocence review, and Section 1983 claims for civil rights violations. He is a member of the Access to Justice Committee for the State Bar of Georgia and the Civics Education Committee for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.

Advised Archroma, a global leader in sustainable specialty chemicals and solutions and an SK Capital Partners portfolio company, in acquisition of Textile Effects business from Huntsman Corporation*

Advised mid-stream pipeline owner in 68 consolidated Natural Gas Act condemnation matters in trial and appellate court*

Litigation counsel for off-shore wind developer in challenges to federal approvals, including under the National Environmental Policy Act and Clean Water Act*

Advised on environmental enforcement and crimes matters in agency proceedings and in federal district and appeals courts*

Lead attorney on en banc Eleventh Circuit case providing prisoners the ability to seek punitive damages for constitutional rights violations even if they lack physical injuries (993 F.3d 1353)*
