With more than 30 years of experience working with corporations and private equity investors on mergers, acquisitions, and commercial transactions, Rich Becker is a go-to legal advisor for innovative corporate clients in Northern Virginia and around the world.

Rich has advised parties involved in numerous high-profile mergers and strategic financings, working hand-in-hand with executives and investors to develop effective legal structures for critical deals. From fast-growing start-ups, to experienced investors and publicly traded corporations, Rich helps clients at every growth stage develop smart legal strategies that move as quickly as they do.

Rich began his career at the center of Northern Virginia's booming innovation economy, representing corporate clients and investors in the IT, telecommunications, satellite, media, biotech, real estate, defense, and homeland security spaces. Throughout his career, Rich has overseen matters as diverse as public and private merger transactions, minority investments, joint ventures, recapitalizations, tender offers, and debt financings. Rich is proud to have watched many of his clients grow their businesses over the years into the technology, telecom, government contracting, and investment powerhouses the public knows today.

Rich serves as the administrative partner of our Northern Virginia office, and has been recognized as a finalist for Washington Business Journal's Top Washington Lawyer for Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions. He is also featured in Chambers USA and listed among the Top 100 lawyers in the D.C. metro area by Washington, D.C. Super Lawyers. Outside the office, Rich has taught corporate law at George Mason University Law School, and presents regularly on the intersection between business and the law.

Represented four private equity investors in the sale of Presidio, Inc., a US$1bn IT infrastructure business.

Represented SensorDynamics AG, a developer of sensor and micro-electromechanical solutions, in its acquisition by Maxim Integrated Products.

Represented NBC Universal in its acquisition, along with other investors, of The Weather Channel, a leading satellite and cable television channel.

Represented The DIRECTV Group, Inc. in the formation of the Hughes Network Systems, LLC joint venture and the sale of its VSAT business.

Represented The DIRECTV Group, Inc. in the sale of its satellite television set top box manufacturing business to Thomson.
