Unified Patent Protection in Europe: A Commentary

As the new Unified Patent Court (UPC) prepares to open its doors, global law firm Hogan Lovells has supported the publication of a detailed book, guiding practitioners on the new Unified European Patent System. The book has been carefully prepared by judges, university professors and patent attorneys, with the support of thirteen Hogan Lovells lawyers.

As the most current and comprehensive legal guide on the new Unified European Patent Law,  it is designed to help all patent practitioners who will have to analyze and apply the new European patent system, which has already survived two legal challenges before the European Court of Justice, with one pending before the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany. It also includes in-depth discussion of relevant literature and case law in the participating Member States.

Authors include members of the expert group responsible for drafting the Rules of Procedure for the UPC. The book has been edited by Prof. Dr. Winfried Tilmann, of Counsel at Hogan Lovells, and Dr. Clemens Plassmann, Partner in the firm's Intellectual Property, Media & Technology practice.

Published by Oxford University Press, it can be purchased / downloaded here
