Today’s Close-up - TPP

November 2011

Warren Maruyama was interviewed on Japan's NHK network regarding Prime Minister Noda's announcement at the APEC Leaders Summit that the Government of Japan would begin a consultation process regarding participation in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a free trade agreement involving the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Peru, Chile, Brunei, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore. The interview aired on three news programs throughout the past week: "Today's Close-up," "World Wave Tonight," and "Good Morning Japan." The announcement has stirred a major controversy in Japan, because of agricultural opposition.
