The UK's new Bribery Act received Royal Assent on 8 April 2010. The Act radically overhauls the UK's outdated and discredited corruption legislation and introduces a new regime which, in many respects, is more stringent even than the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977, which has historically been the "gold standard" in this area. This article provides an introduction to the Act's main features.
