The FTC's Round One Victory in its Challenge to the Evanston Northwestern Hospital Merger: What Did the ALJ Find, and What Are the Implications?
In the first federal challenge to a hospital merger since 1998, a Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Administrative Law Judge recently found that the 2000 merger that created Evanston Northwestern Healthcare Corporation violated the antitrust laws, and ordered the divestiture of the acquired hospital.
