The federal government’s use of the procurement system to further ESG initiatives is gaining steam. In recent years, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives have come to the forefront of corporate considerations.  The federal government itself has begun to focus more on ESG policy, especially with respect to environmental sustainability, as reflected in the Biden Administration’s recent Executive Orders (EOs), open Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) cases, and several recent agency requests for information. The government is focused on driving sustainability through the power of procurement. As such, government contractors, including the Aerospace and Defense (A&D) industry, need to track relevant federal government ESG initiatives.
