SEC files charges to stop ICO "fraud"

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has obtained an emergency asset freeze to stop an initial coin offering (ICO).

The SEC filed charges against "recidivist Quebec securities law violator Dominic Lacroix" and his company PlexCorps in the federal court in Brooklyn, New York.

The complaint alleges that Lacroix and PlexCorps marketed and sold securities called PlexCoin on the internet to investors in the US and elsewhere, claiming that this would generate a 1,354% profit in less than 29 days.
