Newsletter - News, regulation and effects of the COVID-19 crisis in Spain

Hogan Lovells Madrid office analyses the news, regulation and effects of COVID-19 in Spain.

The crisis caused by the well-known COVID-19 virus has led the Government of Spain to declare, through Spanish Royal Decree 463/2020, of 14 March, a State of Emergency throughout its national territory. The initial duration of the State of Emergency is 15 calendar days from 14 March, and may be extended with the prior authorisation of the Congress of Deputies.

A further decree, Spanish Royal Decree 465/2020, of 17 March has modified specific issues of the RD of 14 March.

The effects of the crisis are, for the moment, unimaginable in all their proportions, but it is clear that they will have an extraordinary impact on all known economic, social and personal spheres.
